2-Day Trek

  • Day 1

    Cusco – Cachabamba (Km. 104) – Aguas Calientes

    Your guide will pick you up from your hotel. You will ride a private bus from Cusco to Ollantaytambo to catch the train to Machu Picchu. Along this 1.5-hour ride you will enjoy beautiful Andean landscapes. You will board the train with your guide and will be dropped off at kilometer 104, the starting point for your 2-day adventure. Along the way, you will visit the archeological sites of Cachabamba and Wiñaywayna, enjoy fabulous views of the Urubamba River, and discover different types of orchids hanging from branches everywhere. After an approximately 2-hour hike, we will stop to rest and have lunch at the Wiñaywayna archeological center.

    Hiking will continue to the Inti Punku, or Entrance of the Sun, where we will be able to admire the sunset over Machu Picchu. Afternoon light is perfect to capture beautiful pictures with less tourists in the ruins. After one final hiking leg of only 45 minutes, we will arrive at our destination: “The Lost City of the Incas”, -Machu Picchu- one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. From here we will ride a bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will dine, discuss some last-minute details for the next day’s adventure and spend the night.

  • Day 2

    Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

    The second day is magical. We will awake at 3:30am so that we may take the first bus up to the ruins to enjoy the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Your guided tour will last 3 hours, and all the most important aspects of this archeological site will be explained and visited: The urban and agricultural sectors, the temples, the sacred fountains, the sundial, the plazas etc. We will return to Aguas Calientes by bus where we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo and a professional bus driver will greet you at the train station (with a sign with your name on it) ready to take you back safely to your hotel in Cusco.
